Anatoly RakhimbaevAnatoly Rakhimbaev was born in Tashkent in 1957 in the family of the chief designer of “UZBEKFILM’ movie studio. In 1979 he graduated from the geological faculty of Tashkent State University. He worked for 12 years as a chief geologist in the Kyzyl-Kum desert. At the same time he went in for photography. He exhibited his first photos in “Panorama” photo club. His works were noticed and then in 1989 he was invited to work as a photographer in a “Tashkentskaya Pravda” newspaper. That was the beginning of his way as a professional photographer. In 1994 Anatoly joined the Union of Art Photographers of Russia. In 1999 he became a member of the Union of Uzbekistan Artists.

Russia: “Ogonyok”, “Itogi”, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, “TV Park”, “Izvestia” (staff photographer since 2003), literary miscellanies “ASSMOPRESS”(1994-1999).

He also cooperated with “Panos Pictures”, “Associated Press”, “PhotoXpress”, “Best Pictures” agencies.

Exhibitions

1990 – photo-exhibition of the Ministry of Health on Near-Aral Region in Nukus and Tashkent.
1994 – photo-exhibition “One Earth Is One Family” in UN office in Tashkent. The same exhibition in Paris in June 1994.
1997 – photo-exhibition “National and International Aspects of Ecological Catastrophe of Aral Sea.
1997 – personal exhibition of black and white photography in “Diydor” gallery arranged for the author’s 40’s birthday.
1997 – Ecological Photo-exhibition organized by Conrad Adenayer foundation in Bishkek.
2000 - Exhibition of Union of Uzbekistan Artists to the 9th Anniversary of Uzbekistan Independence.
2001 – exhibition at the UN Agency on Drugs Control in Tashkent.
2001 – photographs for “Tashkent” publication arranged for the 10th anniversary of Uzbekistan Independence.
2002 – exhibition at the “Centre of Contemporary Art” arranged for the opening of “House of Photography” in Tashkent.


Participation In Contests

1991 – 3rd place in Vilnus contest of Graphics Artists and Photographers.
1995 – 2nd and 3 rd place in the “Slavitch” Plant contest on the Best Black and White Photography in Pereslavl Zalessky.
1996 – 1st place in the “Slavitch”Plant contest on the Best Black and White Photography in Pereslavl Zalessky.
1996 – 3rd place in “Humour Photo of Russia” contest in Moscow.
1999 – Participation in “Knokke-Heist” contest in Belgium. As a result his work was included in the catalogue as one of the best photos in the “Humour Photo” nomination.
2003 – 3rd place for the “Middle Asia. Aral Sea Region” photo project at the “Interphoto” International Contest in “Nature and Environment” nomination.

Anatoly Rakhimbaev died in 2005, March 30, because of doctors’ don’t-care attitude.
